Pastor Jay Wilcher, Cherie Wilcher, and Roscoe

Pastor Jay Wilcher

Pastor Jay began his ministry at First Congregational Church on April 27, 2015. Having lived in eleven states due to school and work, he is happy to settle in Prescott. Jay is a minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Through our denominational agreements to share clergy, he has been granted standing in the Southwest Conference of The United Church of Christ in order to pastor our church. He holds Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. He has served churches in New Jersey, Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennessee, Colorado, and California. Jay has also been a vocational pastor, working as an investment representative for Prudential Financial, MWA Financial Services, and Farmers Insurance. He worked as a regional private banker for Wells Fargo Bank and as an executive banking manager for Vectra Bank Colorado. He found the business world just as messed up as the church! He enjoys golfing, fine wine, and travel. His better half, Cherie, works at West Yavapai Guidance Clinic as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. They share four children and four grandchildren. Family Standard Poodle Roscoe serves as assistant to the pastor.

Jane Osborn • Music Director

Jane Osborn was born in Dayton, OH and raised in Huber Heights, a suburb north of Dayton. She always loved music, especially singing, and grew up singing in church choirs from the time she was a small child. Beginning in middle school, her first choice of elective courses was always a choral group.  She sang in the Varsity Choir each year of high school and performed in the school’s musicals including, “The Sound of Music” in the role of Mother Abbess. Jane graduated from Morehead State University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Music Education, Magna Cum Laude. Not surprisingly, her major instrument was Voice, although she was certified to teach both vocal and instrumental music, K-12.

Since graduating, Jane has taught public school music, privately in her home, served as music director for several area churches, performed with various groups at Yavapai College and appeared on stage at Prescott Fine Arts in concerts and shows. She has been Musical Director for eight musical productions at Prescott Fine Arts (now Prescott Center for the Arts) and served from 1995-2002 on the Scholarship Competition Committee.  Since 1999, Jane has been the concert moderator, vocalist and a percussionist with the Central Arizona Concert Band.

Jane has been a Prescott resident since 1987. She and her husband, Alex, are very proud parents of their combined children, David and Daniel Boggs and Dillan Osborn.

Carole Sue Linson • Organist/Bell Choir Director

After teaching 40 years of high school choirs, jazz bands and elementary students in Indiana and San Francisco Bay area, Carole Sue Linson came to Prescott in 2002 to slow down and find musicians to play keyboard and saxophone with. She has taught six summers in the Elderhostel program at Yavapai College and elementary music a couple years at Washington Traditional School. She loved moving to small-town Arizona for her childhood and youth were spent in Northern Indiana in frigid cold and hot humid summers near Notre Dame University. She graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis where she then took her first music teaching job at Ben Davis while working on her Master’s Degree. She was a choir director at a Methodist Church when she met the Linsons, and Bill’s mom and sisters were in her church choir. Bill went to the United Theological Seminary to be ordained before they left for Philadelphia, eventually returning to Indianapolis. In 1974 the couple headed west, never to return to Indiana to live. Carole Sue also taught and studied at countless other institutions around the world before settling in Prescott. She hopes to continue to providing music ministry for many more years to come.

Julie Jaquette • Office Administrator

Julie Jaquette came to work for us the summer of 2014. She has a diverse background in cosmetology, aircraft parts procurement, bookkeeping, and office management. She grew up on the island of Guam and has since lived in Colorado and Florida. She moved to Prescott with her two daughters in 1999 seeking good flying weather, the mountains, and a drier climate. She has a passion for sustainability concepts that include homesteading, reducing her impact on the environment, organic gardening, and minimalistliving. When visiting the Church office, you may find Darla by her side, which is her little dog. When she isn’t busy with the day-to-day duties here at the Church, she acts as a bridge between the Prescott recovery network and the LGBTQ community, including a new local chapter of PFLAG that meets here at the church.
